Red Magic 12 Pro+ Features Industry-First RGB Water-Cooling

Red Magic's next gaming phone is all about making cooling a visual spectacle. The Red Magic 12 Pro+, launching October 15, will be the first smartphone with RGB water-cooling, according to the brand. Now, beyond the lights, Red Magic is also claiming a thinner, lighter chassis and a redesigned cooling pump that pushes coolant harder than before. That's a big deal for gamers who need sustained performance.

What's New: RGB Water-Cooling and a Stronger Pump

Red Magic has used liquid cooling in phones before, but the 12 Pro+ adds RGB lighting to the coolant path. A custom light guide sits above the airflow channel, allowing RGB lighting to run along the water-cooling route. The effect is that you see the lighting move through the same path the coolant takes. And that's not just for show - the Red Magic 11 Pro already showed its water-cooling ring through a transparent back, and the 12 Pro+ extends that idea with lighting.

The hardware change is more than cosmetic. FoneArena reports that the pump is upgraded to a dual-crystal driven micro-pump with an operating output pressure of 130 kPa, up from 100 kPa on the prior generation. That's a 30% increase in output pressure, which should increase coolant velocity across the system. In practice, faster coolant flow can help move heat away from the SoC more quickly, which matters during long gaming sessions when sustained performance tends to drop due to thermal throttling. The heat-transfer medium remains a non-conductive, insulating fluorinated fluid - the same type used in AI server racks, according to FoneArena. Because it's non-conductive, a leak is less likely to short-circuit components.

Design & Build: Thinner, Lighter, and More Rounded

Red Magic says the 12 Pro+ chassis has been redesigned to be thinner and lighter, with more pronounced corner rounding to change the in-hand feel. Gizmochina quotes Red Magic calling it “the best-feeling RedMagic flagship to date.” It's lighter, thinner, narrower, and more rounded than the 11 Pro+. Now, that's a big deal for gamers who need a phone that's comfortable to hold during long sessions.

The front display bezels have been narrowed from 1.25 mm to 0.96 mm. That 0.29 mm reduction may sound small, but on a gaming phone, it means the screen occupies more of the front surface, which can make the device feel
