Key specifications

The RedMagic 12 Pro uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 on a 2nm process with CPU speeds up to 5.0GHz, alongside RedMagic's RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display chip. It runs RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17 with built-in Gemini, PC game emulation and Steam access via the X-Gravity gaming centre. Memory and storage are LPDDR5X Ultra Pro and UFS 4.1 Pro, offered as 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB.

Thermal management uses AquaCore Cooling System 3.0, which combines a dual-loop liquid system with RGB lighting, Liquid Metal 4.0, a vapour chamber offering 15% greater coverage and a fan spinning at up to 25,500 RPM. According to Gizmochina, the new micro-pump provides up to 130kPa of pressure, which RedMagic says is 85% higher than the previous pump while drawing as little as 20mW.

At the front is a 6.85-inch 1.5K OLED display from BOE, described as a BOE X10 by FoneArena and as a BOE X11 AMOLED by The Tech Outlook, with 2688x1216 pixels, up to 185Hz refresh rate, 0.96mm bezels and no visible camera cutout. RedMagic says no other phone pairs this refresh rate with a true full-screen design and an under-display camera. The official spec sheet should settle the X10 versus X11 designation.

Brightness is rated at up to 5,000 nits local peak, with up to 1,900 nits global peak according to The Tech Outlook and up to 2,000 nits in the FoneArena listing. For touch sampling, Gizmochina reports up to 5,000Hz and FoneArena reports up to 960Hz — the higher figure refers to instantaneous sampling with accessories while the lower figure refers to the display's touch IC. The display offers 10-bit colour depth and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut.

For selfies there is a 16MP ninth-generation under-display camera co-developed with BOE, which The Tech Outlook identifies as using an OmniVision OV16A sensor. An ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor is integrated in the display. On the rear are a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation and a 50MP ultrawide, which The Tech Outlook lists as OmniVision OV50J and OmniVision OV50D40 sensors.

The global model has an 8,400mAh battery with 80W wired charging, plus support for wireless and bypass charging. Additional hardware includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an X-axis linear motor, shoulder triggers with 520Hz touch sampling, customisable RGB lighting, an IR blaster, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.

The handset is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance, with the fan opening separately rated IPX8. Dimensions are 163.03 x 75.96 x 8.55mm and weight is 223g according to The Tech Outlook; Gizmochina lists thickness as 8.5mm, which is the rounded marketing figure for the precise 8.55mm measurement.

What is new compared with the previous model

Launched globally three weeks after the RedMagic 12 Pro+ debuted in China, the RedMagic 12 Pro is the international version of that phone. The main changes for the global variant are wired charging speed and shoulder-trigger response.

On the global RedMagic 12 Pro, wired charging is 80W compared with 120W on the Chinese version, with wireless and bypass charging retained. The shoulder triggers operate at 520Hz instead of 700Hz.

Compared with the RedMagic 11 Pro, the battery capacity has grown to 8,400mAh from 7,500mAh, which is a 12% increase, yet the new phone is slightly thinner at 8.5mm compared with 8.9mm on its predecessor. The chipset moves to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 paired with the RedCore R5 and G1 chips, and the cooling system is upgraded to AquaCore Cooling System 3.0 with RGB lighting, Liquid Metal 4.0 and a vapour chamber with 15% more coverage.

The display keeps its 6.85-inch 1.5K OLED size but now reaches up to 185Hz, which RedMagic says is unmatched alongside a true full-screen design with an under-display camera. In Europe the RedMagic 12 Pro starts at €899, €200 higher than the €699 starting price of the RedMagic 11 Pro last year, with the increase across all three configurations. RedMagic has also removed the 24GB RAM option previously offered.

How it stacks up at this price

At $949 / €899 for the base 12GB+256GB model, the RedMagic 12 Pro positions itself as a performance-focused gaming flagship with a larger-than-average battery and active cooling. That includes a 25,500 RPM fan and dual-loop liquid cooling, alongside an 185Hz true full-screen OLED with an under-display camera. The combination of Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, RedCore R5 and G1 chips, plus features such as bypass charging, 520Hz shoulder triggers and IP68/IP69 durability, targets sustained gaming rather than mainstream camera or lifestyle flagships at similar prices.
